Wedding Dress Trends for SS13

Planning a wedding can be extremely stressful but if your heart is in it, you should enjoy every single moment in the lead up to your special day. Your wedding is very likely going to be the most important day in your life to date so everything should be perfect and just as you want it. And the most important detail of the day? Your dress – of course!

So where to start? The dress is seemingly the easiest part as we’ve all dreamed of our perfect wedding day since we were 12 years old….or maybe not. Not everyone has had a childhood vision for the dream gown and even if we did, fashion has shifted somewhat since our play days.
Choosing your wedding dress with care and plenty of time is very important because there are surprisingly a lot of different styles to try on.  If you need a little inspiration for what’s hot this year, take a look at our wedding dress trends for SS13.
What’s On Trend for Spring 2013?

  1. Colour – this is not something that most brides dream of. But coloured wedding dresses has been hot on the catwalks this year, giving the less traditional bride to be an opening to really let her personality shine through. The white wedding isn’t for everyone and if you consider yourself to be a bit of a maverick, a little bit of an alternative chick, a colour dress may be perfect for you. Vera Wang, Maggie Sottero and Douglas Hannant have designed some great runway gowns for Spring which may inspire you.
  2. Portrait backs – this is a really elegant and stunning feature which has a very traditional touch to it. Portrait backs can be made from lace, sheer materials, beading, mesh or anything that creates that stunning transparent effect. A wedding dress with a 360 feature is always a hot choice and this spring, having a stunning feature on the back of your dress is truly on trend.
  3. Peplum dresses – peplum has been a huge trend in the fashion world and who would have thought that it would trickle down into the bridal arena? The peplum waist on a wedding dress?! It sounds bizarre but actually, it’s a very stylish feature.
  4. Lace – this trend is of course inspired by the one and only Duchess of Cambridge, the beautiful Kate Middleton. Her dress wowed an entire nation as well as the rest of the world when she stepped out to the church on her royal wedding day. Lace nouveau is something we can relate back to our grandmothers but today, vintage is hotter than ever and a lacy wedding gown is one of the most desirable styles. Whether you opt for a floor length gown with a long train like our Duchess or you choose a midi length 50s look gown, lace is just such a beautiful choice.

Good luck in finding your dream wedding dress and we hope these trends are useful. Don’t forget to use an online wedding planner like www.weddingsite.co.uk if you want to have access to more bridal info and planning tools.
