Must-Do Activities in Australia

By far, one of the most amazing places to visit if you’re in constant need of excitement and something new is the Down Under. Australia is a home to many different areas and places, each of them unique in its own way. This practically means that visiting Australia is like visiting many other countries in one, so if you want to kill more birds with one stone (not literally!), this is the place to book your tickets to. And if you already have, and you don’t know what to see and what to do, take a look as we tried to take the best of what Australia has to offer and bring them to you. Scroll down for some tips and ideas!

1. Drive along the Great Ocean Road

It doesn’t matter that you don’t have your own car in Australia; you can land in Melbourne and rent one there. Why? Because one of the most important (and most interesting) things to do in Australia is drive along the Great Ocean Road, and it’s very easy to reach from Melbourne. The Great Ocean Road stretches for more than 240 km along the Southern Ocean and is home to many secluded pearls and things that you will simply be mesmerized by. Make sure to see all the important landmarks of this road, including the 12 Apostles, the amazing rock formation. If you want an authentic experience, you can check out some of the beachside villages and stay there.

2. Foodie trip in Tasmania

If you have five extra days for your trip, then you should head to Tasmania and enjoy all the food and drinks that it offers. Feasting through this place and checking out all the local produce is definitely something that should be on everyone’s to-do list. Tasmania is also very popular for its wines and the Tamar Valley, which is the most popular wine place in this area. If you happen to be there, don’t miss out on the Pinot Noir, Tasmania’s signature wine.

3. See the Sydney Harbor and Sydney Opera House

You simply cannot visit Australia and not visit Sydney, can you? There is plenty of things that you have to do there, so booking a couple of nights in this spectacular city is the perfect thing to do. First of all, make the Sydney Harbor and Sydney Opera House the first things to check off on your to-do list, and believe us, it’s well worth it. Furthermore, you can have a magical experience by opting for one of the best Sydney cruises and afterwards grabbing a dinner or a drink at one of the amazing waterfront restaurants that overlook the Opera House and the ocean.

4. Have a dinner at Uluru

If you’re planning your trip to Australia sometime between April and October, then a dinner at Uluru under the stars is something that you definitely want. It costs around $325, and there’s never more than 20 guests. Drinking and dining overlooking Uluru while listening to the sound of a didgeridoo and sitting on top of a dune is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience. This is quite a secluded place, far away from any town or city, which means that the stars are visible every single night, which makes it a perfect place for taking some amazing photographs!

5. Catch a wave

Australia is washed by not one, not two, but three different oceans, so it’s no wonder that surfing is such an important sport in this country. And since your job as a tourist is to find something more about the culture of the place you’re visiting, it means that your job is to try and surf. You will definitely have a good time, especially if you choose any of the most beautiful surf beaches in Australia. If you’re a newbie, don’t worry, as there are different beginners’ courses that can teach you how to surf.

6. Visit a rainforest

Remember when we told you that Australia is like visiting many different countries? Well, not only can you experience some amazing city life in Sydney or Melbourne, the dunes at Uluru, but you can also experience the amazing wildlife in one of its many rainforests. If you’re up for this challenge, then you want to go to the Wet Tropics Heritage Area, which is one of the most biodiverse rainforests in the world. You can either take a tour and take some amazing photographs, or choose a river drift snorkeling tour. It doesn’t cost much and you don’t need to have prior experience.

Other articles will tell you to visit Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra. But these are the things that you really need to see and experience if you want a truly authentic Australian holiday!
