Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, so when it comes time to pop the question, choosing one that she will love takes planning. Some women prefer a round cut while others dream about pear-shaped diamonds.

Rose Cut
The rose cut is an older cut—about five hundred years old—and was used before precision machines and lasers were used to shape diamonds. Unlike many diamonds, it lacks a pavilion and flat on one side, appearing to be only the crown of a diamond. It’s commonly seen in antique jewelry, and hasn’t been popularly used in recent years. Raw or Rough Cut
Rough or raw diamonds are unpolished diamonds that have not been cut. Because the gems are not shaped by laser or machine, each diamond is unique and has its own individual character to it. Cushion Cut
Similar to a square cut but with rounded corners, this type cut of diamond has been making brides to be smile for over 200 years. Originally, cushion-cut diamonds were chunkier than they are today. Now, this cut is made to catch attention with detail as opposed to brilliance. That’s not to say this cut isn’t beautiful, but it is different than the classic round.
Trilliant Cut
The term ‘trilliant’ applies to diamonds cut into a triangular shape, though there is a lot of variation from stone to stone. Trilliant cut diamonds work well as solitaires or as accents for other gems. The sides can be straight or curved. The top can be tabled or not. Because this cut has so much versatility, it makes for an eye-catching engagement ring.
Emerald Cut
Given its large, brilliant style, the emerald cut can be used to create one-of-a-kind rings. Emerald cuts have a mirror effect, which makes them sparkle and shine. Its longer lines brings an air of sophistication to whomever it wearing it.
