There are some things that a person needs to have in their wardrobe to be considered well-dressed when they step out. Jewelry that is beautiful, attractive, and tasteful is among those items. Here are four timeless jewelry pieces to have:
A Pearl Necklace
Nothing says timeless beauty like a pearl necklace, be they freshwater pearls, Akoya pearls, south sea pearls or Tahitian pearls. These are cultured pearls, which means that a bead was introduced into the pearl oyster, and the oyster, over time, deposited layers of nacre around it.
Most reputable jewelers use an A to D system of grading pearls with Grade A being the highest. The necklace can be made of pearls of the same size or pearls that are graduated. After it’s worn, the necklace should be cleaned with a soft, lint-free cloth and cleaned now and then in warm water and mild soap. It should be stored by itself in a velvet bag and worn often since wearing improves the pearls’ luster. The necklace should be checked now and then by a jeweler and restrung if necessary.
Earrings
A pair of elegant earrings is also a must for the wardrobe. Earrings come in a great variety of shapes, sizes and materials, and the wearer would do well to have several different types for different occasions. Stud earrings are the most popular type of earring and seem to float on the ear. Stud earrings made of diamonds and a precious metal such as white gold are perfect for just about any occasion. Other types of earrings are drop earrings, dangle earrings, intricate and beautiful chandelier earrings, teardrops, and hoops.
A Cocktail Ring
A cocktail ring is made to draw attention to itself. It is most often one large, showy gemstone held in a prong setting, a big, faceted gem surrounded by smaller stones or even concentric circles of small gems that form a circle or an oval. The band itself can also be showy, with a shank that’s split or made to resemble vines.
A Wristwatch
A high-end wristwatch is both an item of designer jewelry and a functional timepiece. A wristwatch made of platinum and studded with diamonds can cost many thousands of dollars, but a beautiful watch of rose gold and stainless steel can be had for much less.
The classic pearl necklace, a few pairs of earrings to choose from, a cocktail ring and a stylish wristwatch are must-have pieces of jewelry for any wardrobe. They can be eye-poppingly expensive or reasonably priced, but they always make a statement.
