The Ultimate Guide to Ring Sizes

Purchasing a ring for yourself? Or maybe a loved one? Not only do you need to select the right shape and style, but you also need to find out ring size.

When you purchase a ring, it needs to be the right ring size. Here’s everything you need to know about determining the correct size.

Do You Already Own A Ring?

The easiest method in finding out the ring size is using what you already have and wear. Take the ring you already have for the finger you’re looking to purchase and measure the diameter with a ruler.

The diameter is the point of the ring from one side to the other across. Once you’ve got the number in millimeters you’ll need to multiply it by 3.14 to get the right number. You can then use a ring size conversion chart to get to the corresponding number size in your area.

If you don’t want to get too fancy with measurements, you can take the ring to your nearest jewelry store for them to measure it for it.

Don’t Own A Ring?

If you don’t already own a ring, or its not for the finger you’re looking to buy don’t worry there’s another quick way to measure. For this next sizing trick you’ll need scissors, a piece of paper, a pencil, and a ruler.

You’ll want to cut a small piece of paper about half an inch thick and about 7 inches long. Next wrap the piece of paper around the finger you want to determine the ring size of and make a mark where the end of the strip overlaps. You’ll want it to be comfortably tight but not too tight.

Next, lay the paper next to the ruler and measure out from the end to the pencil mark on it. Take the measurement in millimeters and once again use a ring size conversion chart to determine your proper size.

This is probably going to be the easiest way and save you time doing any math calculations at home. They will let you know the exact size and write it down for you to take home so you can buy that silver ring you’ve been eyeing online.
