4 Ways To Save the Environment and Look Fabulous!

Saying you want to save the environment is very noble as a personal cause. However, living it is another challenge, especially when it comes to fashion and looking good with your wardrobe. Fortunately, there are four ways to save the environment and look fabulous at the same time.

Wash Your Clothes With Care

Get a washing machine that uses as little water as possible. It should also be very energy-efficient. Use environmentally friendly detergents anytime you can to minimize wastewater that has to be seriously treated before release. For that matter, try and capture your gray water to use for lawn care and other activities in your home that don’t involve human consumption. Also, air-dry your clothes if you are able to. Not using a dryer will reduce electricity consumption and thermal pollution. There really is nothing like clothes dried and freshened up in nature’s own sunlight.

Avoid Fast Fashion

Some garments are made in sweatshops that hog lots of the world’s resources without regard and exploit local populations for cheap labor. Don’t buy mass-produced garments that are made in bulk to reflect seasonal trends and demands. Others use fair trade practices and sustainable development techniques to minimize their footprint or even give back to the Earth what they take away while making garments.

Look Into Garment Manufacturers

Look for clothes made out of environmentally friendly materials. You can learn about one such material at BionicYarn.com, which is a textile material made in part out of reclaimed ocean and beach plastic. This is someone turning a serious pollution problem into clothes people can wear. There is a sizable and growing market demand for garments produced in alignment with caring for the environment. You can be another consumer that joins and boosts this particular movement. Be the change you want to see in the world

Donate Your Clothes

Whenever possible, don’t throw your old clothes away. Even if you intend to never wear them again, donate them whenever possible. Even if they never get worn as garments again, any repurposed use will give them a second life outside of landfills. Some thrift stores will use ripped clothes as cleaning rags and other such uses.

It is possible to look great and save the environment at the same time. When you make a planet-friendly fashion statement, others are sure to take notice. Hopefully, some of them follow in your footsteps. Always be ready to inform, inspire, and educate those who will listen.
