The beloved actress passed away as her publicist Leslie Sloane announced “It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease”.

Shannen Doherty was loved by the fans of the TV series 90210 where she starred as Brenda Walsh in the early 90’s. Later we watched her as Prue Halliwell in Charmed. She started her acting career as a child in Little House on the Prairie.

Her Battle With Cancer
Her battle for her health started in March 2015 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, which had spread to her lymph nodes.. The next year Doherty revealed that she was receiving anti-estrogen treatment to shrink the tumor and enable treatment by lumpectomy . The presence of multiple tumors meant that a lumpectomy was not possible, and a unilateral mastectomy was performed in May 2016. Surgery revealed that some of the cancer cells may have spread beyond the lymph nodes.[65] Because the cancer was more advanced than previously thought,[65] Doherty underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy following surgery.[65] On April 29, 2017, Doherty announced that her cancer was in remission.[66]
On February 4, 2020, Doherty announced her cancer had returned a year prior, and that she is now stage four.[67][68] In October 2021, Doherty provided an update on her cancer treatment during an interview on ABC News.[69] In June 2023, she announced that the cancer had spread to her brain and is terminal.[70][71] In November 2023, she revealed that the cancer had spread to her bones.[72] In January 2024, Doherty shared that she was undergoing a new cancer treatment and that it was successfully breaking through the blood-brain barrier, calling it a “miracle”.

Bad reputation
Her tense relationships with some of her co stars gave her the reputation of the bad girl of Hollywood. Both Shannen and Jenie Garth (Kelly Taylor) admitted the hostility between the two co stars while working on the set of Beverly Hills 90210 but managed to reconcile later.
It is also rumored that her fights with Alyssa Milano, one of her television sisters on Charmed, was the reason she was fired by Aaron Spelling.

She was only 53 and she fought for years for her life. We will always remember her as the beautiful young girl most of us first met from her role as Brenda Walsh.
