There is a lot that can be said about the hipster subculture but, perhaps, the most important trait of every hipster is that they will never self-identify as hipster. Although you might not want to admit it there are some signs that will definitely tell if you are a hipster girl. So, read on and tell us how many of these things apply to you.
You shop secondhand
You have a unique style and you get it by shopping secondhand. You are not interested in conforming to the norm and you would rather find your own path. You love vintage clothes and buying secondhand means you don’t have to pay a full price for any item. You can find pieces that will work perfectly with your style and you are not afraid to look different. But buying secondhand is not just about clothes to you, is it? Buying secondhand is about being independent, supporting local businesses and doing your part for the environment by reusing items.
You have at least one vintage band T-shirt
You found it at a secondhand store or a flea market and you knew you just had to have it. Now you wear it all the time even though you don’t listen to the band on it. It is a vintage T-shirt featuring a band from the 60s, 70s, or 80s. It might be the Rolling Stones, Cream, Blondie or The Cure. Whoever they are, their music is too mainstream and you are not really into it, but the T-shirt feels amazing after many years of washing and it is a real statement piece you love pairing with your cut-off jeans and Adidas Stan Smiths.
You own a hoverboard
You care about the environment and you do everything in your power to help save it, and you do it in style. You avoid taking cars and buses whenever you can, but you do own a hoverboard and you are not afraid to use it. You need something cool and interesting for getting around the city and this baby is it. If you are a true early adopter you have it in a really cool color. A purple hoverboard will get you around the city and turn heads along the way, that’s for sure. It is the best means of transportation because it’s fun, stylish and practical, and it is also good for the environment.
You drink craft beer
Beer is a way of life. Before, you never really cared about beer but ever since you tried your first jar of a microbrewed beer your life changed. Now, you know everything there is to know about beer and micro brewing it. You have tasted all craft beers you could get your hands on and you plan to continue with the quest. You never know when you will find that special brew. You go to places barely anyone has heard of and you try to locate every local micro brewery. You have some craft beers you love ordering when you go out but your favorite is the homebrew your friend makes in small quantity, for which you helped design the label.
You have a creative outlet
You are independent, unique and creative. All that can be seen through your hobby turned career. Your creative interests are what got you into something unique like photography, knitting, craft jewelry or homemade organic cosmetics. It is your passion and you don’t care if others find it funny. You pour your heart and soul into everything you create and it gives you the confidence to face whatever life has in store for you. You are self-employed, you are pursuing your passion, and you have flexible working hours that grant you the freedom you seek in life.
