Taking control over our lives is something that we have as our goal from the moment we finish college. And even though not so many of us succeed in this right after college, this feeling does eventually come. However, the word “success” is a rather tricky one, as no one can fully describe it or give a proper definition. This is because each one of us has a different path that they regard as successful, and there are no rights and wrongs here. Many people seek success throughout their whole lives, but when is the time you are completely in charge of your life? Can you recognize it? If not, take a look at this article, and if you can tick at least 3 out of these 5 things, it means that you have control over your life, and for that, we congratulate you!
1. You don’t worry about money
Money is probably the most important factor that tells you how successful or unsuccessful you are. Even in cases when it’s not the main factor (which is probably the case with artists who are totally satisfied and successful in their fields but are not satisfied with their income), it does play a big role. However, one of the main signs that you are in charge of your life is when you don’t have to worry about money at all. Living each day without worrying about the cash you are about to spend is a great sign that you are successful and have control over your life – you can finally do whatever you want without the risk of ending up without a penny at the end of the month. And if you have this feeling, cherish it.
2. You are making bigger plans
If you think about your college days, perhaps a summer trip was something that you had to plan beforehand and tried to save money in order to make the most out of it. However, if this is not the case anymore, you’re on a good path. Making bigger plans such as buying a car or a house or traveling a couple of times a year are definitely things that tell you that you control your life, and not the other way around. Perhaps the next step could be choosing the best life insurer, as this is something more serious which definitely tells you that you’ve come a long way.
3. You are self-confident
Another thing that tells you that you’re doing well in life is when you totally believe in yourself and are self-confident. This is something that many lack, so if you indeed believe in yourself, good for you. It’s very important to be very objective when it comes to the evaluation of yourself, and see for yourself what the good things about you are and what the issues that need improvement are. Knowing your worth and what your values are is always a weapon that many seek. And a good weapon, if we may add.
4. You are patient
During high-school or college, your patience was probably at 0, meaning that you just couldn’t wait for a certain thing to happen. For example, buying a piece of clothing that you really wanted – it was either now or never. As you’re getting older, you’re definitely becoming more patient, and this is a sign that you are in control of the circumstances around you that you cannot change. It is said that patience is a virtue that only the most successful emit, which is definitely true. If you manage to be patient, it means that you are in control of at least one part of your life.
5. You can say no
Even though many people won’t say it, “no” is a very strong and important word. Saying no is all about what’s important to you and what’s not. If you have the option of saying “no” to a certain matter, and you do so, it means that you are in charge of your needs and wishes. There’s no need to please anyone but yourself, and the sooner you learn this, the better.
Perhaps you’re doing great in life but you have no idea that you are. Or it could be the other way around – that’s also possible. These 5 signs definitely show that you can take control of certain aspects of your life, which is amazing. If three or more signs from this article are ringing true of you – even better. Congratulations!
